Sony Ericsson Xmini

Sony Ericsson Xmini REVIEW

It’s the new Sony Ericsson Xmini handset, which has been released early today. It’s more something of a Walkman phone with a slider and hidden touch sensitive buttons. Some are saying that colors are too loud, but I think they’re definitely eye-catching acceptable. Besides, it’s also available in white and gray for those who prefer discrete looking gadgets.

So tiny, in fact, it's smaller than an iPod Nano! At just 44mm (W) × 75mm (H) × 18mm (D), the little Xmini barely has enough room for a screen, let alone a keypad! Sony Ericsson therefore had no choice but to make it a slider, but even then, the keys on the keypad are tiny. More details and pics after the jump. The Xmini comes with 4GB of memory for your tunes and Bluetooth A2DP for streaming your tunes to a compatible Bluetooth headset or speaker. The screen is 1.8", which is a bit small, but what do you expect on the tiniest of tiny phones! Unfortunately, it's currently only destined for Japan.

Nokia Crystal 7900

Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism REVIEW
Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism marks a new milestone for Nokia: the collaboration with the fashion designer Frederique Daubal. The result is unique style jewel, that comes with special accessories and special background images inspired by Daubal.

Daubal’s graphic designs on the illustrated aluminium back covers have also been an inspiration for the spellbinding wallpapers in the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism. The covers have been etched with laser technology making the Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism a truly beautiful object to behold. In creating this unique design, inspiration is taken from the way in which crystals are formed in precious stones and minerals. Light, and the way it refracts in intricate prisms, is seen as the perfect medium through which to highlight this quality.

In terms of connectivity, Nokia 7900 Crystal Prism sports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support plus dual-band UMTS (unfortunately with no video calls support). In addition to a 2 megapixel camera with flash, the phone comes with 1GB of internal memory (no memory card slot available). The 7900 Crystal Prism uses a microUSB port for data transfers, which is becoming increasingly popular among latest Nokia phones.but the rest of the specs are fairly average: 3G, a 2-megapixel camera, and a matching stereo headset. Oh, and the keypad can be switched between a surprising 49 colours.

Nokia N76

NoKiA N76

NoKiA N76 REVIEW
N76's design unmistakably resembles elements of Motorola RAZR, which was the first mobile of a slim clamshell body featuring a flat etched keypad. Along with these two characteristics Nokia has also adopted the famous Motorola "chin" naturally associated with RAZR. Its also measures 106.5mm x 53mm x 13.7mm (4.2" x 2.1" x .5") in size, which makes it thin for a folder by both smartphone and non-smartphone standards. Because of its thinness, the N76 is very pocket friendly. At 53mm in width, though, it might be a bit wide for smaller hands.

On the left side you will find a microSD slot behind a fairly sturdy flap. Above it is the unprotected mini Nokia charging port. I find that a bit worrying as dust will surely get in. The camera shutter, multimedia shortcut key, and the volume buttons are found on the right side.Music lovers, however, will appreciate the quick-access multimedia playback buttons below the LCD. Because these keys are on the outside, there's a chance you may press it accidentally when the phone is in your trouser pockets, so we recommend turning on the automated keylock function. Fortunately, you can also unlock the phone using the external buttons.

Inside, the keypad on the N76 reminds us of the ones Motorola uses on its RAZRs. It looks aesthetically pleasing, but its flat, undulating surface means you can't really feel one button from the next. When you move into a darker environment, the ambient light sensor will activate the keypad's backlight in a shade of brilliant blue. There's also a customizable multimedia key which we can configure to access frequently used multimedia programs. What we didn't quite fancy were the Edit and Clear buttons that are spaced too closely to each other below the four-way direction control.

NOKIA 5310

NOKIA 5310 REVIEW
Packing a 16M color QVGA display, dedicated music keys, stereo Bluetooth and FM radio in a sleek thin body, this neat handset is sure to appeal to quite a lot of slim phone admirers

There's something about the 5310 that makes you want to pick it up to use. It may not be the most attractive-looking or the thinnest handset you can find in the market today. But the combination of a 9.9mm-slim profile, bright color lines (red or blue) and a rather simple yet trendy design somehow makes the phone likeable for most people on first impressions. It also helps that once you pick it up, it's got comfortable and solid feel.

The red bar to the left of the screen is home to three music playback buttons – Skip Backwards, Play/Pause and Skip Forwards, giving users easy access to their music. The top of the 5310 houses the power button, Mini USB port, and thankfully, a very welcome 3.5mm headphone jack. This is the single most important feature that should be found on any music phone, as it enables users to use whichever headphones they like, without extra wires or funny adapters. The charging jack can be found at the top of the left side of the 5310, and volume keys found on the right side.
